What is a Joint Master Degree? • Highly integrated Master study programme delivered by international HEI consortium • Require study in at least two of the Programme Countries represented in the consortium • Can last 12, 18 or 24 months (60, 90, 120 ECTS) • Leads to the award of a double, multiple or joint degree to all successful students • Award full-study scholarships for students worldwide Erasmus+

EMJMD: Who can participate? ü Public or private organisations in Programme or Partner Countries ü HEIs ü Non-academic partners (enterprises, non-profit organisations, NGOs, foundations, etc. ) ü Applicant must be HEI established in Programme Country. The HEI applies on behalf of the EMJMD consortium. Erasmus+

EMJMD: how do they work? ü Minimum EMJMD consortium composition: 3 ü ü ü HEIs as partners (including the coordinator) from at least 3 different Programme Countries HEIs from Partner Countries can participate Associate partners optional Funding for 3 annual intakes of students and scholars, covering (project duration 4 -5 years) Total costs of students' scholarships Annual flat rate fees for management and scholars Erasmus+

EMJMD funding rules The EU grant for an EMJMD will be indicatively ~ 4 million € HEIs: Contribution to the consortium management costs (incl. costs for invited scholars and guest lecturers) Ø 50. 000 € per student intake (= 150. 000 € in total) + 20. 000 € for optional preparatory year Students: max 25. 000 € per academic year and per scholarship Actual amount varies according to: ∗ EMJMD's length of studies (60, 90 or 120 ECTS credits) ∗ Student's country of residence ∗ EMJMD level of participation costs 12

Jean Monnet Chair v A teaching post with a specialisation in European Union studies for university professors v To be hold by only one professor, who must provide the minimum of 90 teaching hours per academic year v Teaching must include direct contact hours in group lectures, seminars, tutorials and may include distance learning but no individual supervision. Additional activities • • Activities Provide teaching/lectures to students from other departments Advise and mentor the young generation of teachers and researchers in EU Studies subject areas Conduct, monitor and supervise research on EU subjects, for other educational levels Organise conferences, seminars/webinars, workshops, etc. targeting to policy makers at local, regional and national level as well as to civil society Eligibility criteria q Minimum of 90 hours teaching per academic year q Deepen teaching in EU studies embodied in an official curriculum of a HEI q Provide in-depth teaching on EU matters for future professionals in fields with are in increasing demand on the labour market ü ü ü Erasmus+ HEI established in any country of the world HEIs in Programme Countries must hold a valid ECHE Applicants must be staff members in their HEI and have the rank of professors. Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence Activities What is it? Ø A focal point of competence and knowledge on EU subjects within a given HEIs Ø It gathers expertise and competences of highlevel experts (including JM Chairs /Module coordinators) to develop synergies between disciplines in EU studies, create joint transnational activities and links with HEIs in other countries Ø They must reach out to students from faculties not normally dealing with EU issues as well as to policy makers, civil servants, organised civil society and general public • Develop a strategic 3 -year annual plan with a wide range of activities • Lead research activities in specific EU subjects • Develop update and complement the current courses and curricula on EU studies • Enhance debate about the EU, where possible in partnership with local stakeholders and/or EU Representations in MS and EU Delegations • Systematic publication of the results of research activities Eligibility criteria ü ü Erasmus+ ü HEI established in any country of the world HEIs in Programme Countries must hold a valid ECHE not required for participation HEIs in Partner Countries. Only one Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence can be supported in any given HEI 33 Project duration of 3 years

Policy debate and exchanges Aims to support: NETWORKS: foster creation, development of consortia of international players (HEIs, Centres of Excellence, departments, etc. ) in area of EU studies. Involvement of minimum 3 partner institutions from 3 different countries, duration up to 3 years; (max grant: 300. 000 €) PROJECTS: support innovation, cross-fertilisation, the spread of the EU content. Involvement of other partners possible, duration between 12 – 24 months; (max grant: 60. 000 €) Main activities: • Gathering and promoting information and results on methodologies applied to high-level research and teaching on EU-studies • Enhancing cooperation between different HEIs and other relevant bodies throughout Europe and around the world • Innovation projects explore new angles and different methodologies in view of making EU subjects more attractive, adopted to various kinds of target populations • Cross-fertilisation projects promote discussion and reflection on EU issues, enhance knowledge about the Union and its processes • Spread content projects mainly concern information and dissemination activities 34 Erasmus+

Jean Monnet Network Activities • What is it? v To foster the creation and development of consortia of international players (HEIs, Centres of Excellence, departments, teams, individual experts, etc. ) in the area of EU studies v To gather information, exchange practices, build knowledge and promote the European integration process across the world v To enhance existing networks supporting specific activities, fostering the participation of young researchers in EU themes v Unilateral proposals, focusing on activities that cannot be achieved successfully at national level. Their aim is to undertake projects that have a multinational rather than a national dimension. • • Gather and promote information and results on high level research and teaching on EU studies Enhance cooperation between different universities throughout Europe and around the world Foster cooperation and create a high knowledge exchange platform with public actors and the Commission services on highly relevant EU subjects. Support to Associations Aims to support: ASSOCIATIONS: contribute to the study of the EU integration process, interdisciplinary approach, officially registered and independent; open to all interested professors, teachers and researchers specialising in EU issues, at regional, national or supranational level; duration 3 years; (max grant: 50. 000€) Main activities: • organise and carry out statutory activities of associations dealing with EU studies and EU issues; • Perform research in the field of specific European issues in order to advice local, regional, national and European policy makers, dissemination of outcomes including the EU institutions, enhancing active citizenship. 37 Erasmus+

Support to Associations Activities What is it? v Support to associations having as explicit purpose to contribute to the study of the European integration process v They must be interdisciplinary and open to all interested professors, teachers and researchers specialised on EU issues v They should be representative of the academic community in EU studies at regional, national or supranational level v Support will be given only to associations that are officially registered and have independent legal status. • • Organise and carry out statutory activities of associations dealing with European Union studies and European Union issues (e. g. publication of a newsletter, the setting up of a dedicated website, etc. ) Perform research in the field of specific European issues to advise local, regional, national and European policy makers and disseminate the outcomes among the institutions involved, including the EU Institutions as well as a wider public thus enhancing active citizenship Eligibility criteria Ø Any association of professors and researchers specialising in EU Studies, established in any country of the world Ø The explicit purpose of the association must be to contribute to the study of the European integration process at national or transnational level. 38 Erasmus+Ø 3 years
