GENERAL OBJECTIVES • To support the modernization, accessibility and internationalization of Higher Education Institutions in Partner countries • To support Partner countries to address the challenges facing their HEIs and systems, including those of quality, relevance, equity of access, planning, delivery, management and governance • To foster cooperation between EU and partner countries, promoting the convergence towards EU standards in higher education Target: Partner Universities
TYPE OF ACTIVITIES SUPPORTED (PRIORITIES) 1. Modernization of curriculum by developing new and innovative courses and methodologies 2. Modernization of governance, management and functioning of higher education 3. Strenghtening of relations between higher education and the wider economic and social environment For each Region, specific priorities are established by EACEA For projects involving partner countries of different Regions the priority addressed must be respected for all the Regions
1 Modernization of curriculum by developing new and innovative courses and methodologies: Which activities are supported? Support to: – Creation/reform of Master courses in partner HEIs – New learning and teaching tools, including soft skills, entrepreneurship, use of ICT – New methodologies and pedagogical approaches including learning outcomes and ICT-based practices (blended courses, virtual mobility, internship palcements, etc. . ) Fields of study eligible for Latin America (call 2017): Education, Arts, Humanities, Business and Administration, Law, Information and Communication Technologies, Manufacturing and processing, Agriculture forestry fisheries and veterinary, Health, Environment
2 Modernization of governance, management and functioning of higher education: Which activities are supported? Priorities for Latin America-call 2017 Support to: • Quality assurance processes and mechanisms • Equity, access to and democratization of higher education • Development of research and innovative capacities (excluding research activities)
3 Strengthening of relations between higher education and the wider economic and social environment: Which activities are supported? Priorities for Latin America-call 2017 Support to: • Development of school and vocational education at post-secondary, nontertiary education level • Recognition of qualifications frameworks • New technologies in Higher Education (support to the modernization of Higher Education systems though the development of open educational resources, connectivity, the acquisition of digital skills and learning methods and mobilization of stakeholders including teachers, learners, economic and social partners)
Two categories of projects JOINT PROJECTS Aimed at producing outcomes that benefit principally and directly the organizations from the Partner countries involved in the project STRUCTURAL PROJECTS Aiming at producing an impact on highe education systems and promoting reforms at national and/or regional level in the Partner countries They must involve Ministries of Higher Education of the countries involved
PARTNERSHIP COMPOSITION National projects (only one Partner country) Multy-country projects (two or more Partner countries) • At least 2 HEIs from two different programme countries • At least 3 HEIs from the partner country • Projects must include at least as many Partner countries HEIs as there are Programme countries HEIs • At least 2 HEIs from three different programme countries • At least 2 HEIs from each partner country involved • Projects must include at least as many Partner countries HEIs as there are Programme countries HEIs Specific criteria: -Projects involving Russia must involve at least another Partner country -Projects in Latin America Region must involve at least two Partner countries of that Region
