ERA- Electronic Remittance Advice • ERA – Electronic Remittance Advice – If you submit your insurance claims electronically, you now have an opportunity to receive your Explanation of Benefits electronically as well » ERAs replace and/or supplement the Explanation of Benefits that you currently receive today from participating insurance carriers » ERAs include payment information that shows you, in advance which claims have been paid and for what amount » When an ERA is downloaded into your system, it will populate check numbers, EFT numbers and insurance payment information automatically, reducing data entry errors and increasing office efficiency
ERA- Electronic Remittance Advice • How will your office receive the insurance checks if you are enrolled with ERAs? – Payments from participating insurance carriers will continue the same as you receive them today and the payment method will be listed on the ERA for you. • How will your office know if you have received an ERA? – The ERAs are received in the same manner in which you receive your e. Claims submission reports. During the e. Claims report download, if an ERA is sent, you will receive a message indicating and ERA was received. You can then view the ERA from the Claims Processing screen in Eagle. Soft. • How will receiving ERAs make payment posting faster? – Once a payment is received in the office on an ERA, you can quickly go and view the ERA and post the payments associated with that ERA all from the Claims Processing screen. The payment amounts, and check numbers are populated for you automatically.
ERA- Electronic Remittance Advice • What do I do if I need to post an adjustment on claims received on an ERA? – You have the same flexibility on posting adjustments at the time of payment, just as if you were posting an individual insurance payment. • How do I know what carriers participate with ERAs? – There is a payer list for participating carriers just like your electronic claims payer list. • Is there additional insurance enrollment for ERAs? – Some insurance carriers will require enrollment before they will begin sending ERAs to you.
