EPIPHANY Week 4 SUNDAY EVENING PRAYER Together: Growing, Caring, Sharing in God’s Love

O God, make speed to save us, All O Lord, make haste to help us.

Blessed are you, Sovereign God, our light and our salvation: All to you be praise and glory for ever.

You gave your Christ as a light to the nations, All and through the anointing of the Spirit, you established us as a royal priesthood.

As you call us into your marvellous light, All may our lives bear witness to your truth and our lips never cease to proclaim your praise.

Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit: All Blessed be God for ever!

That this evening may be holy, good and peaceful, let us pray with one heart and mind.

All As our evening prayer rises before you, O God, so may your mercy come down upon us, to cleanse our hearts and set us free to sing your praise, now and for ever. Amen.

PSALM Psalm 132 part 2 (Good News Translation)

10 You made a promise to your servant David; do not reject your chosen king, LORD. 11 You made a solemn promise to David— a promise you will not take back: “I will make one of your sons king, and he will rule after you.

12 If your sons are true to my covenant and to the commands I give them, their sons, also, will succeed you for all time as kings. ”

13 The LORD has chosen Zion; he wants to make it his home: 14 “This is where I will live forever; this is where I want to rule.

15 I will richly provide Zion with all she needs; I will satisfy her poor with food. 16 I will bless her priests in all they do, and her people will sing and shout for joy.

17 Here I will make one of David's descendants a great king; here I will preserve the rule of my chosen king.

18 I will cover his enemies with shame, but his kingdom will prosper and flourish. ”

Jesus, Son of David, make us a priestly people; clothe us in righteousness, make us fruitful, and give us hearts to shout for joy in your salvation; we pray in the power of the Spirit. Amen.

12 On one of those days, Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray. He spent the night praying to God. 13 When morning came, he called for his disciples to come to him. He chose 12 of them and made them apostles. Here are their names. 14 Simon, whom Jesus named Peter, and his brother Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, 15 Matthew Thomas, James, son of Alphaeus, Simon who was called the Zealot, 16 Judas, son of James and Judas Iscariot who would later hand Jesus over to his enemies. Arise, shine, for your light has come, All the glory of the Lord is rising upon you. God’s salvation has been openly shown to all people, All Declare his glory among the nations. CANTICLE Luke 1. 46 -55 (Good News Translation) Behold my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen, in whom my soul delights; the anointed one on whom my Spirit rests.

My heart praises the Lord; my soul is glad because of God my Saviour, for he has remembered me, his lowly servant!

From now on all people will call me happy, because of the great things the Mighty God has done for me. His name is holy; from one generation to another he shows mercy to those who honour him.

He has stretched out his mighty arm and scattered the proud with all their plans. He has brought down mighty kings from their thrones, and lifted up the lowly.

He has filled the hungry with good things, and sent the rich away with empty hands.

He has kept the promise he made to our ancestors, and has come to the help of his servant Israel.

He has remembered to show mercy to Abraham and to all his descendants forever!

THE LORD’S PRAYER Believing in the promises of God, let us pray with confidence as our Saviour taught us:
