EPIPHANY Week 3 WEDNESDAY MORNING PRAYER Together: Growing, Caring, Sharing in God’s Love

Your light springs up for the righteous, All and all the peoples have seen your glory.

O Lord, open our lips, All and our mouth shall proclaim your praise.

Blessed are you, Sovereign God, king of the nations: All to you be praise and glory for ever.

From the rising of the sun to its setting: All your Name is proclaimed in all the world.

As the Sun of Righteousness dawns in our hearts, All anoint our lips with the seal of your Spirit.

That we may be witness to your Gospel, All and sing your praise in all the earth.

Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit: All Blessed be God for ever!

The night has passed, and the day lies open before us; let us pray with one heart and mind.

All As we rejoice in the gift of this new day, so may the light of your presence, O God, set our hearts on fire with love for you; now and for ever. Amen.

GOD’S MYSTERY revealed in Christ

PSALM Psalm 105 part 1 (Good News Translation)

Give thanks to the LORD, proclaim his greatness; tell the nations what he has done. 2 Sing praise to the LORD; tell the wonderful things he has done.

3 Be glad that we belong to him; let all who worship him rejoice. 4 Go to the LORD for help; and worship him continually.

5 -6 You descendants of Abraham, his servant; you descendants of Jacob, the man he chose: remember the miracles that God performed and the judgments that he gave.

7 The LORD is our God; his commands are for all the world. 8 He will keep his covenant forever, his promises for a thousand generations.

9 He will keep the agreement he made with Abraham and his promise to Isaac. 10 The LORD made a covenant with Jacob, one that will last forever.

11 “I will give you the land of Canaan, ” he said. “It will be your own possession. ”

12 God's people were few in number, strangers in the land of Canaan. 13 They wandered from country to country, from one kingdom to another.

14 But God let no one oppress them; to protect them, he warned the kings: 15 “Don't harm my chosen servants; do not touch my prophets. ”

Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen. Or: Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen.

God of our earthly pilgrimage, feed your Easter people with the bread of heaven, that we may hunger and thirst for righteousness until we reach our promised land; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

17 One day Jesus was teaching. Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there. They had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem. They heard that the Lord had given Jesus the power to heal the sick. 18 So some men came carrying a man who could not walk. He was lying on a mat. They tried to take him into the house to place him in front of Jesus. 19 They could not find a way to do this because of the crowd. So they went up on the roof. Then they lowered the man on his mat through the opening in the roof tiles. They lowered him into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus. 20 When Jesus saw that they had faith, he spoke to the man. He said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven. ” (Luke 5. 17 -20; NIr. V)

O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness, All let the whole earth tremble before him. Tell it out among the nations that the Lord is King, All tell out his salvation from day to day and his wonders among all peoples. Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit: All O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness, let the whole earth tremble before him.

All O God, you know us to be set in the midst of so many dangers that because of our frailty we cannot always stand upright: give us strength and protection, support us in all dangers and carry us through all temptations; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE LORD’S PRAYER Believing in the promises of God, let us pray with confidence as our Saviour taught us:

Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen.
