Epidemiology Epi Demos Logos
introduction Is the study and analysis of the distrubation patterns , (who, when, and where)and determinants of health and disease conditions in defined populations. OR , Science which deal with the incidence , distrubation and possible
Introduction control of diseases and other factors relating to the health and disease. OR , The cornerstone of public health and shapes policy decisions and evidence based practice.
Epidemiological components • Health : A state of normal physical , anatomical and mental. • Disease : Dysfunction or any abnormal in physiological or anatomical structures. • Collection to the data • Analysis of the obtained data • Interpretation of the data
Defination It is the study of : 1 - Frequency, 2 - Distribution, 3 - Determinants of diseases and other related conditions in population.
Defination Study : Systematic collection , analysis and interpretation of data. Frequency : The number of times of disease occurs. Answer the question of How many ?
Defination Distrubation : Distrubation of the disease by animal , place and time. Answer the question who , where and when ? Determinants : Factors determinate the presence or absence of the disease and its level. Answer the question : how and why ?
Important of Epidemiology According to the International Epidemiology Association (IEA) , Application of this study used to : 2 - Identify the aetiological factors concern with disease. 1 - Describe the distrubation and size of the disease problems in population.
Important of epidemiology 3 - Provide the data essential to the planning to solve the problem in population. 4 - Apply the prevention measurs and promotion of health then prolonging life.
