SONS OF DISOBEDIENCE (Eph. 2: 1 -3) I. ONE WHO IS DEAD SPIRITUALLY A. Dead through trespasses & sins (2: 1). B. Walked after the course of the world (2: 2). C. Walked after Satan (2: 2). D. Lived in lusts of the flesh, doing the desires of the flesh & mind (2: 3). E. By nature children of wrath (2: 3). (Long Use, Habit, “Native Tongue”)
SONS OF DISOBEDIENCE (Eph. 2: 1 -3) II. WAYS OF DISOBEDIENCE A. Rebellion – Refusal to obey. Israel refused to enter Canaan: (Num. 13: 25 - 14: 12, 20 -30) 1. 2. 3. 4. 33). 5. Blamed Moses & Aaron (14: 2). Blamed God (14: 3). Feared people of the Land (14: 9). Believed not God (14: 11; Dt. 1: 26 Refusal in spite of evidence.
SONS OF DISOBEDIENCE (Eph. 2: 1 -3) II. WAYS OF DISOBEDIENCE B. Doing What God Prohibits. Israel presumed to enter Canaan: (Num. 14: 36 -45) 1. Changed their minds… too late (14: 39 -42). 2. Were “forward” (Dt. 1: 41 -43). 3. This is “self-will” (2 Pet. 2: 9 -10). 4. Fornication, Adultery, Homosexuality, etc.
SONS OF DISOBEDIENCE (Eph. 2: 1 -3) II. WAYS OF DISOBEDIENCE C. Adding To God’s Requirements Warning (Deut. 4: 1 -8; Rev. 22: 1819)!1. If man adds laws, who is glorified? 2. Going beyond revealed Truth = leaving God behind (2 John 9). 3. Yet many have no fear in adding instrumental music, denominational names, etc.
SONS OF DISOBEDIENCE (Eph. 2: 1 -3) II. WAYS OF DISOBEDIENCE D. Leaving Off Some Commands Warned against diminishing (Deut. 4: 1 -8; Rev. 22: 18 -19) 1. Saul & Amalekites (1 Sam. 15: 1 -24). 2. Moral cowardice lost Saul the kingdom (15: 15, 21, 30). 3. Partial obedience is still rebellion (15: 23). 4. Change deeds, not repent (Acts 8: 22)?

Pattern for fellowship (Rom. 14)? Pattern for Lord’s Supper (1 Cor. Pattern for righteousness (1 Jn 3: 7)? If can change one, why not all?
SONS OF DISOBEDIENCE (Eph. 2: 1 -3) CONCLUSION: Whatever we do that is beyond, short of, or instead of God’s revealed will; is disobedience (Col. 3: 17). Are we doing the works God has prepared? (Ephesians 2: 1 -10)
