ENZYME

Characteristics of enzymes • Protein in nature. • Biological catalysts. Speed up reactions without being changed or used up. • Act on reversible reaction. • Action of enzymes is specific • Work best at a certain range of p. H and temperature. • Action of enzymes is affected by inhibitor

Factors affecting enzyme action Temperature • Each enzyme works best at a particular optimum temperature - ___________. • When temperature is lower than optimum temperature, activity of enzyme become lower At low temperature, enzymes ____. inactive become _______. They become active again _________ when the temperature is raised.

Factors affecting enzyme action Temperature • Above the optimum temperature, heat shape of enzymes and their changes the _______ active sites _____ decreases their _______, activities. • When temperature is too high (above 60 o. C), denatured and lose most enzymes are ______, they catalytic property permanently.
