ELECTION PROCESS Step 3: General Election§ Now that each party is represented by one candidate (republican and democrat), the general election process begins. Candidates campaign throughout the country to win the support of voters. Finally in November, the people vote for one candidate.

THE GAME PLAN: STEP 1 § § § Ms. Wise will be dividing the class into two official political parties: the Sweet Party, and the Salty Party. Each political party will have three selection committees. In your selection committee, you will be nominating a candidate.
PICK YOUR CANDIDATE § With other members of your group, select your favorite junk or snack food as your “candidate. ” The candidate can be as general (cupcake) or as specific (Fiery Hot Cheetos) as the selection committee decides. However, the candidate must reflect the political party you belong to. (Sweet party has to pick a sweet item, salty party has to pick a salty item. )
PICK YOUR CANDIDATE § § § Prepare a 4 -5 sentence speech detailing the unique and delicious qualities of your candidate. Select an enthusiastic member of your group to be your spokesperson to deliver your speech. Create one visual aid to support your campaign. THIS PROCESS SHOULD TAKE NO LONGER THAN 15 MINUTES.
SWEET PRIMARY-STEP 2 § § § Using the secret ballot provided, vote for one candidate from the three Sweet Party candidates only. Only registered Sweet Party members may vote. You may only choose from among the three candidates – no write-ins.

NATIONAL CONVENTION § In your party, choose 5 people to come to the front of the class and announce that your party has officially nominated a candidate to run for president. They will announce the candidate and everyone CHEERS!!!!!
