ENT 417/ ENT 407 Design Project II Coordinator: Dr. Vikneswaran (vikneswaran@unimap. edu. my)
ENT 417 & ENT 407: Design Project II • Continuation of ENT 416 & ENT 401 • • Should be customer oriented and demonstrable market • • Group project but individual assessment • • 3 -4 students per group, Allowed to change group orientation • Assessment by experts in related fields • IDP day
Topic & Scope • 3 General and real scenarios 1) Occupational Therapy 2) Innovate: Chronic diseases monitoring 3) Spinal Injury Patient Transfer
ENT 417: CO attainment • CO 1 - Ability to design and solve complex biomedical engineering problem • CO 2 - Ability to acquire information from a variety of sources and apply design process to develop solutions based on knowledge and constraints using engineering analysis tools and software
ENT 417: CO attainment • CO 3 - Ability to evaluate solution that meets customer and financial needs with consideration to patents/codes/ standards for a design safety/ cultural/ societal/ environmental/and human factors. • CO 4 - Ability to communicate effectively via written, oral presentation and demonstration of the design solution.
ENT 417: CO attainment • CO 5 - Ability to function in a team for the successful delivery of design project.
Feedback from ENT 416 !!! • Students did not submit logbooks on time/ Never submitted logbooks • Poor preparation of logbooks (Rubrics not followed) • Relatively poor report writing • Free Riders (no effective communication within teams)
ENT 417: IDP 2 • Deliverable 3 (D 3) : Embodiment Design – Due week 7 • Deliverable 4 (D 4) : Final Report – Due week 13 • Viva and Exhibition – Week 13 -14 (IDP Day) • Project management (evaluation 2 -3 times), teamwork. etc • Individual Logbook
Deliverable 3 (D 3) : Embodiment Design • Design Project Written Communications (10%) • Product Architecture (25%) • Configuration Design (25%) • Parametric Design (25%) • Detail Design (15%)
Deliverable 4 (D 4) : Final Report • To include all design element from needs analysis to detailed design (D 1, D 2, D 3) • To include prototyping strategies • Costing and project management • Sustainability elements
