n In Belgium, increase of the intra-european migration for poverty n Many families comes from east Europe, especially Roma families with a great number of children. Furthermore poverty these families suffer of discrimination n Because their administrative situation (no asylum -seeking, no extra-european), they don’t receive any reception in our country.
n The policies regulating the migration flows don’t take into account the best interests of the child n These children are forced to live during months in the streets or train way stations n Many basic rights (survival, education, health) are not respected)
As ombudsman for children, we must intervene recommendations to the authorities, both with others institutions Ø public advocacy Ø Media Ø In some crisis, direct intervention to provide food, urgent accommodation, access to basic health care Ø But nothing change….
What can we do as ombudsman for children in these kind of situation where the basics rights of survival are compromised only recommendation Ø other recommendations kinds of actions ? Ø Actions on the european level ? Ø
