Expanded Noun Phrases • Think of at least 2 adjectives to describe each of your nouns from the previous slide. This will mean you will have at least 20 adjectives! Remember to use a thesaurus to find some really good adjectives! • For example solid, concrete could describe the noun walls and shiny, hardwood could describe the noun table. • Write yours in the box below. Expanded Noun Phrases • Combine two of your adjectives with one of your nouns to make at least 10 expanded noun phrases. • Remember, these are not full sentences so you do not need to worry about capital letters and full stops. However, you must use a comma to separate the two adjectives. • For example, “shiny, hardwood table” and “solid, concrete walls” • Write your expanded noun phrases on the next page. • You should have at least 10! Persuasive Writing • Imagine you designed and built this perfect house, and now it was your job to sell it. • Write an advert which persuades someone to buy the house you designed, just like the advert for “The Delicious-Maker” in the lesson. • Remember, you need them your reader to think that this house is the best house ever and that they need to buy it from you! • In the lesson, we looked at different features of persuasive writing – rhetorical questions, repetition, imperative verbs and expanded noun phrases.
