Objective • Practice writing skills in a given context. • Create awareness about the cultural differences and similarities between English and Spanish languages. • Create a link between English and Art as school subjects. • Use different media as a way to practice English.
What is an saying? • a well-known wise statement that often has a meaning that is different from the simple meanings of the words it contains. What is an expression? • a word or group of words used in a particular situation or by particular people
Project • The project will consist in doing an illustration based upon an English saying/expression. The project MUST contain the proper illustration, the expression or saying, a brief explanation that will be given by the teacher and a sentence that include that expression.

Specifications • • The project will be done IN CLASSES (three classes). The project will be done in either pairs or individually. The teacher will assign the expression at random. The mark from this project will go straight to the class book. The best projects will be featured during English Month. You CAN use your cellphone BUT only to help the creation of the project. There will be a rubric attach to this project that will be given next class.
Materials • White poster board paper (44, 5 cm x 63 cm) • Scissors • Glue stick • Markers (optional) • Crayons (optional) • Glitter (optional) • Color paints (optional)
English Sayings/Expressions • • • Bite the bullet: to get something over with because it is inevitable. Break a leg: good luck! Cutting corners: doing something poorly in order to save time or money. Get out of hand: get out of control. Hang in there: don’t give up. It´s not rocket science: it’s not complicated. No pain, no gain: you have to work for what you want. Speaking of the devil: the person that you’re talking about showed up. The best of both worlds: an ideal situation.

A large amount of money.
