English Maths Humanities In English and Reading lessons

English Maths Humanities In English and Reading lessons we will be studying Shakespeare. We will begin by looking at some of the famous sonnets he wrote, before moving on to his most famous tragedy – Romeo and Juliet. In Maths lessons we will be focusing on fractions, decimals and percentages, and applying this knowledge to solve word problems. This term we will be exploring the history of Bristol! This will also include a school trip at the end of the term to the boat yard. We will be writing a selection of text types, including letters, character profiles and news reports. We will also be carrying on with ‘Mrs Wordsmith’: learning new and exciting vocabulary. We will continue to use TT Rockstars weekly, and will be encouraging the children to use this at home also to improve their speed of recall. I have been really impressed with the progress the children are making with their times tables ! Creative Arts Curriculum Overview Science Year 5 Which came first, the chicken or the egg? Spring 2 In science this term, we will be investigating living things and their habitats. We have already explored the school grounds in search of different life cycles! RE PSHE Music This term we will be focusing on collages. We will be exploring famous collage artists and movements, and then creating our own flag for Bristol. We will be following the Jigsaw scheme. This term we will be exploring ‘Healthy Me’ This term we will be focusing on the life of John Wesley. This will also include a trip to the New Room in Bristol at the end of the term. PE Computing PE will be on Monday and Friday. We will be focusing on different ball games. This term we will be looking at block coding – making objects move and disappear. We will continue to look at online safety. We will be creating and composing our own music. MFL This term we will be learning French! Travelling the world!
