English Language Paper 2: Writers’ viewpoints and perspectives Question Overview Structure and Tips Q 1 - 5 mins Four true facts out of 8 given statements (4) One source only Q 2 - 10 mins Summary of a concrete idea within both sources (8) Connective, quotation, inference. Remember to state something you can infer/ suggest about the quotations chosen. Q 3 - 15 mins Language analysis of one source (12) TEAL structure. Remember to zoom in, name methods and link back to the focus of the question. Q 4 - 20 mins Comparison of writers’ perspectives/ opinions (16) TEAL Comparison structure Discuss the writers and how they feel- focus on the reader is not necessary. Q 5 - 40 mins Writing to persuade, argue, explain or inform (40= 24 content & organisation, 16 for SPa. G) Ideas for and against the statement which are well explained in depth. Include a paragraph of ‘Picture the scene: …. ’ writing to show off your creative skills also. Include cohesive paragraphs to show a written flow within your ideas.
