English is not so difficult to learn. Many words can be used both in English and Italian language, others are similar among them. Now let’s see some tricks to learn the English words
There are many Italian words similar to the English words, but only the final vowel is missed: e. g. AMERICANO – AMERICAN MOTORE – MOTOR APRILE – APRIL TELEVISIONE – TELEVISION FORESTA – FOREST SECONDO – SECOND INDIVIDUALE –INDIVIDUAL UNIVERSALE – UNIVERSAL PORTO – PORT RAPIDO – RAPID ANIMALE – ANIMAL PARTE – PART MUSICA – MUSIC PROBLEMA – PROBLEM LISTA – LIST PERSONA - PERSON
Some other Italian words are similar to the English words if you change one or two letters only. The final letters ia or a of some Italian words become y in English: e. g. CATEGORIA – CATEGORY ECONOMIA – ECONOMY QUANTITA’ – QUANTITY GALLERIA – GALLERY UNIVERSITA’ –UNIVERSITY INDUSTRIA – INDUSTRY LOTTERIA – LOTTERY ORDINARIA – ORDINARY QUALITA’ - QUALITY
The double TT in some Italian words becomes CT in some English words: DOTTORE – DOCTOR PERFETTO - PERFECT The group of letters ZIONE becomes in English TION while the SIONE becomes SION: CONVERSAZIONE – CONVERSATION PRESENTAZIONE – PRESENTATION INFORMAZIONE – INFORMATION DIVISIONE – DIVISION TELEVISIONE - TELEVISION
When you watch television, take note about all the English words you listen to in any progammes as NEWS – ADVERT- FILM TITLES – SONG TITLES When you go shopping or go out with your friends, have a look around you! You can learn a lot of words outside your school!
