Introspective • (adj) the process of looking into oneself • Synonyms: contemplative, reflective, thoughtful • Example: After reading the self-help book, I’ve become introspective
Melancholy • (adj) to be depressed • Synonyms: dejected, gloomy, mournful • Example: He was sad and in a melancholic mood
Outraged • (n) anything that strongly offends the feelings • Synonyms: insult, affront, injure • Example: Outrage seized the entire nation at the news of the attack
Pensive • (adj) expressing thoughtfulness • Synonyms: meditative, reflective, wistful • Example: He is in a pensive mood after seeing the list of things to think about
Scornful • (adj) to be bitter • Synonyms: derisive, contemptuous, insulting • Example: He was bitter, and smiled in a scornful way
Somber • (adj) gloomily dark • • Synonyms: shadowy, dark, depressing Example: There was a somber atmosphere at the funeral
