Day 1 – Grammar – Re-Cap of Autumn 1 Punctuation Can you correct this sentence? Make sure you add capital letters and full stops, can you add any other methods of punctuation? Mr mahmood supports chelsea and ms mccallion supports leeds united both he and ms mccallion were happy that their favourite teams beat Liverpool this season but mrs kaur was upset because she likes Liverpool she felt annoyed upset and did not want to talk to either of her colleagues any more
Day 1 – Grammar – Pronouns Remember that a pronoun replaces the noun in the sentence: Replace the following sentence with a pronoun: The girl sat next to the girl’s friend to look at the girls new reading book.

Day 2 – Reading comprehension- Page 1 - • To be able to understand a text • Answer the following questions on the Bug Club Book : Egypt! • As you read click on the bugs to answer the questions! • • Globe Challenge: Lost in Look at the first two pages of the text, what features do you notice? Day 2 - Task 2 • Page 18: what do you think is happening? Why might Rosie be keeping a secret? • Use the internet to research which continent Egypt is in. • Find three facts about the continent. • Draw a picture of what you think Egypt may look like based upon what you have read. • Further Challenge: Can you persuade other people to visit Egypt?
Day 3 – Return to our Bug Club Text • Page 28 – What are the features of a post card? Why do we send them? • Design a post card based upon all of the information we have learned about in our text. • Make sure that you include the address in Egypt for example: Room 7, The Nile Hotel, Egypt, and who you are writing to. • Include your fun facts and state two things you have enjoyed about visiting Egypt.
Day 4 – Task 1 Design a character Think about a book you have read, it could be Harry Potter which we have read in school. What features make the characters interesting? How do authors keep us reading? Think of your favourite character: 1. What are their character traits? 2. What sort of person are they? 3. Why do you think this? Make sure you expand on your answers explaining why you come to your conclusions!
Day 4 – Task 2 Design a character Think about a book you have read, it could be Harry Potter which we have read in school. NOW…. You will design your own character and think about how they might fit into the story. For example, for Harry Potter: 1. 2. 3. 4. Are they a muggle? Are they a witch or wizard? What sort of person are they? What house might they be in? What do they look like? Design your character using colours and write around your character all of their qualities!
Day 5 – Writing a Book Review • Today you will write a book review of your favourite book. • What sort of book is it? Why did you like it? Why not? • Remember to answer the following questions in your review: • What happened in the story? • Why did this happened? • Who was involved? • Where did the story happen? • Your opinion? • Would you recommend? Why?
Day 5 – Writing a Book Review You could set out your review just like this! Remember to include a picture and design a font cover. Further Challenge: Can you write a synopsis or blurb that would summarise the key points? Remember: You are trying to encourage people to read it!
