Jobs • When we talk about jobs we use a ‘be’ verb. • I am a teacher. • He is a singer. • When the noun begins with a vowel(a, e, i, o, u) then we use an before it. • He’s an actor. • She’s an actress • She’s an artist.
Yes/ No questions with Be • We have studied the positive and negative forms of the Be verb. • This time we will study Yes/no questions. • Yes/no questions can only be answered with yes/no • It is easy to make a yes/no question. We just have to switch the subject and be verb.
Yes/no • He is a student. – if we switch the be verb and subject it becomes a question. • Is he a student? Yes, he is/ no, he isn’t
Yes/no • Be + subject+ noun/adjective? • Are you/they/we name and name teachers? Yes, they are. /No, they, aren’t • Is he/she/it a student? • Am I in your class? Yes, he is/ No, he isn’t Yes, you are/ no, you aren’t
