English 7 Syllabus 3 rd Quarter -Nonfiction text features -Text structure -Writing instruction to include: ● Review of narrative structure ● Expository/informational ● Elements of persuasion and media messages ● Mechanics, conventions, and usage Expectations ★ ★ Be Ready Be Respectful Be Responsible Be Responsive 4 th Quarter -Review of all literary elements and devices -Review of reading and writing genres -Creative writing -Additional English SOL preparation and review • Come to class on time with your materials and a positive attitude. • Raise your hand to speak. • Stay in your seat unless directed by your teacher. • Be helpful to and respectful of your peers and teachers. • You may have a water bottle in class. • Mask up if you cannot stay six feet apart from a teacher or classmate. Technology Please bring your CHARGED Chromebook to class EACH DAY you come to WMS. We will be using Canvas, Google Docs, Google Slides, and more daily. Your teachers will be monitoring your usage of these resources carefully. If you are misusing your Chromebook and/or violating the Acceptable Use Policy you signed, disciplinary action will be taken. Teachers will issue a minor referral if your Chromebook is not charged. Cell phone are not allowed in common areas or in class from 7: 45 am until the end of the school day. Leave your phone in your bookbag; phone use after 7: 45 will result in a minor referral. Reminders about work It is your responsibility to complete assignments on virtual learning days, whether those assignments are in Canvas or paper/pencil. Your teachers will have office hours on Mondays and are available by email during the school day. If you have a question, reach out! We’re here to help.
