Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) § CSR is a management concept whereby companies integrate social and environmental concerns in their business operations and interactions with their stakeholders. § CSR is generally understood as being the way through which a company achieves a balance of economic, environmental and social requirements while at the same time addressing the expectations of shareholders and stakeholders. 3) Balance Between Individual and Social Interests § The business unit has to maintain a balance between its own interests and those of the society. § A firm that concentrates only on personal gains at the cost of social interests cannot survive for long time. § Similarly a firm that gives too much importance to social interests at the cost of personal gains cannot survive and must close down sooner or later.
