Intermediate level Engineering Drawing and Graphical Communication • There will be one exam paper 3 hrs duration. • SECTION A covers the core part of the syllabus. It carries 52% and four out of the five questions need to be answered. • SECTION B covers the Engineering Drawing part of the syllabus. It carries 24% and one out of the two questions needs to be answered. • SECTION C covers the Graphical Communication part of the syllabus. It carries 24% and one out of the two questions needs to be answered.
• All questions will be answered on A 2 size sheets, which will be provided. • Candidates are required to provide their own A 2 size drawing board and draughting equipment. • There is NO COURSE WORK (practical) at intermediate level. • This syllabus assumes knowledge of the SEC 29 Graphical Communication syllabus (Ordinary Level).

Advanced level Engineering Drawing
Advanced level Engineering Drawing • There will be two papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2 of 3 hrs duration each. • Paper 1 covers the core part of the syllabus. It carries 40% and five out of the six questions need to be answered. • Paper 2 covers the Engineering Drawing part of the syllabus. It carries 40%. Question 1 is compulsory. Another two questions out of three need to be answered. • CAD Portfolio (practical) carries the remaining 20%.
Most topics in Paper 1 are similar to those of Section A in the Intermediate Level but as with other new topics they will be covered in more detail. The compulsory question in Paper 2 will be an Orthographic Projection of assembled parts from separate parts of an engineering component. The following is an example of a Cam Operated Clamp.

The remaining questions in Paper 2 will cover topics that regard: • Manufacturing processes; • Dimensioning and tolerances; • Symbols (machine, surface texture and welding); • Freehand sketches.
