Introduction Statistical information is a vital tool in establishing human development at all levels. Administrative records are not very effective in developing countries The population and housing census is the main source of social, economic and housing conditions In Tanzania four Population Censuses has been undertaken since independence in the year 1961. 10/21/2021 4

Problematic Areas/topics Employment is one of the areas that are problematic for getting good information of both women and men. The classification of data into occupation and professions leaves a lot to be desired since it is not possible in the census to classify to the level of different professions in the smallest groups of occupation. The problem can be minimized by undertaking surveys, which will supplement the census information. 10/21/2021 5

Proper definition of statistical units is key to obtaining high quality social and economic statistics Testing to improve the census instruments and questions Sensitization of the respondents before the enumeration on the importance of giving correct answers Completing reviews of the questionnaires efficiently and on time before the data processing 10/21/2021 9
