Sendai Framework Disaster Risk Reduction Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015 -2030 adopted at the Third UN World Conference in Sendai, Japan, on March 18, 2015. Supported by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) at the request of the UN General Assembly. Successor instrument to the Hyogo Framework for Action (HFA) 20052015: Building the Resilience of Nations and Communities to Disasters. Most significant shift on emphasis on disaster risk management as opposed to disaster management [broadened to focus on both natural and man-made hazards and related environmental, technological and biological hazards and risks. Health resilience strongly promoted]

Sendai Framework Disaster Risk Reduction Seven global targets and five priorities. Targets measured at global level and will be complemented by work to develop appropriate indicators. National targets and indicators will contribute to achievement of outcomes/goals of present Framework. Two targets UNISDR propose as relevant for GEO: e) Substantially increase the number of countries with national and local disaster risk reduction strategies by 2020; (f) Substantially enhance international cooperation to developing countries through adequate and sustainable support to complement their national actions for implementation of this Framework by 2030. g) Substantially increase the availability of and access to multi-hazard early warning systems and disaster risk information and assessments to people by 2030.
