ENGAGE OTHER VETERAN GROUPS TEAM RUBICON • Taking off the uniforms of our Armed Forces does not remove the desire to serve the country. • As some veterans transition from military to civilian life, it can be difficult to regain the purpose, community, and identity that is apparent in the military. • Continued service through disaster response allows many veterans to regain that sense of mission-focus, that feeling of being a part of something larger than oneself. • https: //www. teamrubiconusa. org
ENGAGE OTHER VETERAN GROUPS TEAM RED, WHITE AND BLUE • Enrich the lives of America’s veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity. • Engage veterans in community service and physical activities. • Work toward mental health solutions via physical and social activity. • https: //www. teamrwb. org

ENGAGE OTHER VETERAN GROUPS WAY FORWARD • Many posts are old buildings that offer fellowship over beer • Younger veterans prefer • Community centers with healthier more practical assets • • • Networking WIFI Child care Yoga classes Video games (XBOX or Play. Station) • Social media has replaced physical spaces as a place where veterans congregate.
ENGAGE OTHER VETERAN GROUPS WAY FORWARD (2) • Many of the new groups steer away from lobbying on Capitol Hill, and have turned to community services. • Running races and other activities meant not to connect veterans to one another but the communities they have rejoined. • The thought that eventually the younger veterans will join because they are missing the comradery is a false notion. • Most of our posts are waiting for veterans to come in and sign up
ENGAGE OTHER VETERAN GROUPS WAY FORWARD (3) • There are too many newer and younger VSOs that have popped-up in the recent years. Leaving a vast number of VSOs competing for membership from a much smaller pool of veterans • We are great at talking to ourselves • Invite these groups to meet at the post • Invite them to post activities • Invite them to partner with post events • Who knows, it may result in a new member
