ENERGY TRANSFORMATIONS

Energy Transformation Energy being converted from one type to another in an isolated system Electrical Energy Mechanical Energy

But what is an Isolated system? Looking only at what is right in front of you and not thinking back to where it all came from Reason we use isolated systems: all energy eventually can be traced to the sun but mapping it back to that point would take FOREVER and be pointless to answer our questions

Energy Transformation Diagrams Pictures labeled with energy inputs and outputs including “wasted energy” (Inputs) (Outputs) Electric al Electromagne tic *Note how long the arrows are! Thermal (“Wasted”

Draw the energy Transformation Diagram for a microwave including inputs, outputs and “wasted” energy (Inputs) (Outputs) Thermal Electrical (“Wasted” Energy) Mechanical Electromagnetic

Describe the energy transfer through the isolated system. But there is more than one transformation happening here… What do we do? ! Electromagnetic Electrical Mechanical

Diagram the energy transformation through the isolated system using an energy transfer diagram But again, there is more than one transformation happening here… What do we do? ! (Inputs) (Outputs) Electromagnet ic Mechanic al Thermal (“Wasted”
