Energy systems
Energy systems You’re body runs off of 3 energy systems, all of these energy systems are used for various activities and are all very important when it comes to playing sports or doing sporting activities. They all work together although there are cases where they don’t, the first energy system is called the ATP-CP system, the ATP stands for adenosine triphosphate and the CP stands for creatine phosphate. This energy system is used for very fast action movements like sprinting or jumping, it only lasts for around 0 -10 seconds and is fuelled off creatine phosphate. The next energy system is Lactic acid and this energy system lasts for 1 -5 minutes but It can be improved to last longer. This energy system is used when doing continues action or sporting phase, like running from ruck to ruck in rugby uses lactic acid as well as ATP-CP and aerobic, also doing a continues point in volleyball uses lactic acid to keep you going through the set. Lactic acid is fuelled off of foods like carbohydrates, it also converts glucose into lactic acid to fuel the system. The last energy system is the aerobic, this is used when doing long activities 5 minutes plus, this system is used when running, walking, playing sports, all kinds of things. This system is the most comely used and is very important when it comes to sporting activities because it is what keeps you going throughout the entire game or sport you are playing. Depending on your sport depends on which energy system you are more likely to improve on or need the most.
In this picture they are forming a ruck, for the fords they need to run from ruck to ruck which is a mix of all energy systems. Running from and too each ruck uses lactic acid and your aerobic system, then hitting the ruck or tackling someone uses the ATP-CP system. They all work together when working out or doing a certain sport or sporting activity. Over the entire game all the players need to be fit enough to go the full distance as well as sprinting or tackling when they need to, so using all 3 energy systems in rugby is very important. There are various exercises and things you can do to improve each energy system which a lot of people do to benefit them when playing there sports.
You’re body when working out When working out or playing sports the first thing that happens is your heart starts to beat faster, this is because your muscles are being used and more blood and oxygen needs to get pumped through your body in order to work or react properly. Another thing is breather faster and harder, this is because your lungs have a very high demand for oxygen because you are running around and using up your oxygen, the fitter you are the longer you can run around for. You also get a red face and start to sweat, you get a red face because of the blood being pumped through your body, it may also be because of strain but you sweat because it’s the bodies way of trying to cool you down, but you only get cooled down after the sweat evaporates. Getting sore muscles is all to do with using them to their full potention which puts strain on them causing them to hurt. A good way to prevent this is stretching your muscles before you workout or play your sport. All of these things are what happens when you are working out or playing a sport because it’s how your body reacts to the situation and it helps you get through your sport.
