FORMS OF KINETIC ENERGY: 1. Mechanical: energy that moves an object. 2. Sound: energy caused by vibrations

4. Electrical: energy caused by the movement of electrons through a conductor.
5. Radiant (Electromagnetic): energy that travels in the form of electromagnetic waves.

An energy transformation occurs when energy changes from one form to another. In a television, electrical energy turns into light, heat and sound energy.
Energy Transformations Example: Batteries are a source of chemical and electrical energy. 1. Chemical energy stored in the battery is transformed into electrical energy (electricity) as electrons move through the wire. 2. Electrical energy is transformed into radiant (light) energy and thermal (heat) energy in the lightbulb.
More Energy Transformation Examples: The molecules in food have chemical energy. We transform this energy into mechanical, thermal, electrical and energy. Wood stores chemical energy and as it burns, chemical energy is converted to thermal energy and light energy. During photosynthesis, plants convert radiant energy (from the sun) into chemical energy in the form of glucose (sugar).
