Major Energy Indicators l GDP Elasticity from 1990 to 2003 l Formulation: △PES/△GDP Japan

Major Energy Indicators l GDP Elasticity from 1990 to 2003 l Formulation: △PES/△GDP Japan Philippine s 3. 26% GDP 1. 33% PES 1. 09% 4. 34% Elasticity 0. 82 1. 33 25

Conclusion l l l PES per capita of Japan in 2003 is about 4

Conclusion l l l PES per capita of Japan in 2003 is about 4 toe, which is 8 times more than Philippines for the same time. Industry sector is dominant in FEC at year 2003 in Japan. On the other hand, transport is major sector in FEC of Philippines. Thermal efficiency of Philippines in power generation is lower than Japan, but not so large. 26

Conclusion l l Japanese PES per GDP measured by PPP is about 150 toe/million

Conclusion l l Japanese PES per GDP measured by PPP is about 150 toe/million PPP at year 2003, on the other hand, Philippines’s it is about 100 due to different industrial structure. Philippines could improve GDP elasticity of PES in near future. The target will be about 1. 0 through following implementations: l l l Thermal efficiency on CCGT Fuel efficiency on motor vehicle Energy conservation on residential and commercial sector, especially office buildings. 27
