Tell the person next to you about your chosen career (researched in in the previous lesson). Explain the skills and qualities that are required.

Where do you look for a job? Paired activity – make a list of as many places as possible where jobs can be found. Present your information as a chart or diagram. (Keep a record of your work) Share your ideas with the people sitting near to you and add extra points to the list.

Labour Market Intelligence What is this? Why is it important to use this?

• Log on to the Careers Wales website. • Click on to career search. In the blue box type your chosen career. • A Snap Shot screen will appear. On the left hand side of the screen the following information will appear: salary, vacancies, future opportunities etc. The ‘future demand for the job in Wales’ will give you an idea of the predicted job availability for your chosen career.

• In the Snap Shot box click onto ‘job information’. • This will link to an information leaflet for your career. • Select ‘Tools and Resources’ in the menu on the top of the page – then select ‘Job trends’. This will provide more information about skills and predictions for the future. • Return to your ‘Career Pathway Sheet’ and complete the relevant sections.

Activity Use the Careers Wales website or other sites discussed, to search for possible Job vacancies linked with your chosen career. Make sure you print at least 3 job vacancies for each career. The vacancy MUST have details of application requirements.
