Purpose and Objectives �The purpose of this lesson is to provide students with an introduction to some of the most common emotions (in the TL) experienced in their day to day lives. �Students will know how to identify a variety of emotions from visual prompts. �In the TL students will be able act out a number of different emotions from written descriptions. �Depending on readiness level, students will be able to read prompts and write what emotion it makes them feel. �In the TL students will be able to explain to a classmate how they feel.

Purpose and Extensions �After learning these emotions they should be able to incorporate them into sentences and dialogs. �As part of this lesson it would be highly beneficial for students to learn about emotions/feelings that required the use of the verb tener (tengo hambre, tengo sed, tengo sueño, ect. ). �These could be presented in the same lesson or in a lesson immediately following.

SOLs �S 1. 1 – The student will exchange simple spoken and written information in Spanish 2. Express likes and dislikes, requests, descriptions, and directions. 3. Ask questions and provide responses about self and other familiar topics. �S 1. 2 The student will demonstrate skills necessary to sustain brief oral and written exchanges in Spanish, using familiar phrases and sentences. �S 1. 5 The student will present information orally and in writing in Spanish, using a variety of familiar vocabulary, phrases, and structural patterns.

Idividual Activity �Should be completed individually while teacher walks around monitoring and helping students �The worksheet asks students to respond to different written situations in Spanish. Alternate – Depending on ability level, provide students with mulitple pictures of events rather than reading longer Spanish descriptions. �**The situations in the worksheet allow for a place to make some culture references. �Depending on Spanish level, students can either write out a complete sentence or just write out how the described situation makes them feel with a few words.

Tarjeta de Salida - While standing at the door ask each student how a certain situation makes them feel. - If this is too advanced for your class questions could be asked in English (the purpose of this exit activity is to see if students learned the emotions) -Students must answer how this makes them feel in Spanish. *Examples: - Yo te doy cien pesos. -Yo te pregunto una pregunta que tú no sabes. - Yo te doy tareas extra. - Tu tienes nada para hacer durante el fin de semana. - Yo te doy mal noticias.
