Visual Learning Graphic Design, Computer Art, Digital Photography, Museum visits, Art Camp and Internships gave me a visual understanding of the world in which we live and an appreciation for different types of art, color and space. n It also helped me see if I liked my chosen career. n
Favorite Job Parts I enjoy the variety of projects and people that I get to meet. n I’m not sitting at a desk all day. n I work on top of the line computers. n I get to use the latest software. n I am constantly learning in order to stay up to date and current. n
Two Jobs n Art Teacher / Computer Teacher – Teach students of all ages about Computer Graphics and Graphic Design. n Freelance Consultant – Design newsletters, take digital photos, create websites, make video games, movie special effects, and animation.
Job Training Electives taken in Elementary School, Middle School and High School. n College and Graduate School that was specific to my chosen career. n On-the-Job Training. n Seminars, expos, reading, watching movies and asking a lot of questions. n
The Hardest Part Staying current and up-to-date with constantly changing technology. n Learning new software and hardware. n Staying one step ahead of my students, and coming up with exciting lesson plans. n Moving from job to job. n – Not a lot of stability.
When did I know? n I asked my parents that question once; and they replied that I made up my mind when I was 5 years old. – I have always loved color, space and light. – I have always loved taking photos and making pictures. – I am a visual person. – I enjoy variety and learning.
In Conclusion Being a Graphic Designer and a Computer Artist is a fun and exciting way to help make the world more colorful and more beautiful. n The projects that you get to work on are glamorous projects that a lot of people see. n
