Emergency Procedures
Fire and Tornado Emergency Procedures Fire Drill: Follow your teacher’s instructions on where to go. Each teacher may have a different evacuation route. Stay with your class for the entire drill. Tornado Drill: Follow your teacher’s instruction on where to go. In the event of a tornado warning kneel down on the floor and face the wall. Cover your head with your hands and bend towards the wall. Do you know what to do/where to go in each of your classes if there is a fire or tornado? If not, please ask.
Security Drills Hold Secure (Lockdown) Evacuation
Other Emergency Procedures: Hold: There is a disruption in the hallway/building that needs to be attended to by administration. All students and staff are asked to stay in their current location. Students in bathroom stay there or go to the nearest classroom. Students in the hallways are asked to enter the closest classroom. Staff will continue to teach class as usual. Remain in your classroom area until dismissed by administration/emergency personnel. Release may be done via the P. A. system.
Secure: The school is in lockdown. HIDE OUT All students and staff are asked to stay in their current location. Students in bathroom stay there or go to the nearest classroom. Students in the hallways are asked to enter the closest classroom. Follow your teacher’s instructions and refer to the Hide Out/Get Out procedures posted in the classroom. Hide Out Close and lock doors Turn off lights Use furniture to barricade the door Hide out of view away from doors and windows Remain quiet AND STAY OFF of electronic devices in any form until directed by school staff Ignore bells/fire alarms Take roll call and record Wait for further instructions from administration/emergency personnel at MHS.
Secure: The school is in lockdown. GET OUT USE THIS OPTION ONLY IF SAFE TO DO SO. Evacuate to known location which is Mc. Phee Center Keep hands visible and empty Follow instructions from law enforcement DO NOT Point at them Make quick movements Run towards them or attempt to hug them Scream or yell Wait for further instructions from administration/emergency personnel at the reunification site.
Evacuation: Move to the designated site outside of the building Students and staff will be asked to move to a designated area off the Memorial Campus. Staff and students will walk to the Mc Phee building located on the UWEC campus. In order to account for every student, you as a student are asked to stay with your class so that attendance can be taken when you arrive. If you are separated from your class/teacher, please check in and identify yourself with another staff member. Remain in the designated area until dismissed by administration/emergency personnel.
