The Refining Process Psalms 66: 10 – For You, God, Tested us; You refined us like Silver • THE BREAKING: The Iron Ore Must be Broken • My People are the Ore (Jeremiah 6: 27) • Jeremiah 23: 29 – is not My word like fire, declares the Lord, and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces. • THE CRUCIBLE: The refiner puts unrefined silver/gold into a crucible • The Crucible is held at a precise temperature • Proverbs 17: 3 – The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but the Lord tests the heart. • THE DROSS: Impurities Appear and is removed • Proverbs 25: 4 – Remove the dross from the silver, and the silversmith can produce a vessel. (Isaiah 1: 22 – Your silver has become dross) • THE HEAT: The Refiner raises the temperature even higher • Again, more impurities rise to the surface (up to seven times) • Different Impurities rise at different temperatures • Psalms 12: 6 – and the words of the Lord are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible like gold refined seven times • THE PURIFICATION: The Refiner continues to remove impurities. • The Refiner never leaves the Crucible – he sits by it. • Malachi 3: 3 – He will set as a refiner and purifier of silver; He will purify…and refine them like gold and silver. • THE REFLECTION: Once Completely Pure – The Refiner Can See His Image in the Pure Metal • Isaiah 48: 10 – See, I have refined you, though not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction
