ELSA Law Schools 101

ELS in a nutshell • International event • Making ELSA famous from 1999 (if I count well) • Flagship Project of ELSA • Participants and speakers from all over the World • Called ELSA Law School (not law school which can be e. g. national)

But what are the requirements? • • Aiming to be annual Open to everyone Conducted in English Lasting at least 7 days Consisting of a academic, cultural and social programme At least 20 hours of scientific programme Complying with the ELSA Law Schools Cycle

ELSA Law Schools Cycles • Summer Cycle • Summer ELSA Law School: between the first week of July and the third week of September • Winter Cycle • Winter ELSA Law School: between the second week of December and the third week of March • Less than 5 ELSA Law Schools announced in a Cycle? • no calendar, no deadlines, no joint procedures, no joint application, no unified deadline for applications (CHAOS)

3 – years overview - conclusions • Constant development of promotion • The amount of SELS (both in total and in the Add. App. Period) increases/stays the same BUT the number of apps goes down (both in total and in the Add. App. Period) • To add: • Coaching system develops – monthly contact, checking the venues, pre -visits etc • Looking for general partners of ELS • NEW! Pre-visits

Dreams or goals? The goal is 6000 apps (possible – 2017/2018) At least 100 apps per ELS We have 44 NGs Each of them shall be given a chance to organise ELS=improvement of the project – more internationality (6000: 100): 44 = 1 NG could organise 1 ELS

Dreams in reality The goal is 6000 apps (doable – 2017/2018) At least 100 apps per ELS We have 21 NGs organising SELS in 2018/2019 (6000: 100): 21 = 1 NG could organise almost 3 ELS
