Elin Kleopatra Danielson-Gambogi nasceu Noormarkku , Finlândia, em 3 de setembro de 1861. em Em 1872, o suicídio cometido por seu pai deixou a esposa e filhas em dificuldades econômicas. Biography : Elin Kleopatra Danielson-Gambogi was Noormarkku , Finland , on September 3, 1861. born in In 1872 her father commited suicide, leaving his wife and daughters in economic difficulty. By demonstrating a natural talent for Art, in 1876 Elin went to Helsinki to live with her uncles and attended the school “Design of the Finnish Society of Arts”, where she studied classical drawing and perspective of landscape. Elin also studied porcelain decoration with an excelent professor, Fanny Sundbla. From 1878 on, Elin attended courses at “Adolf Von Beckers Private Art Academy”, where she learnt oil painting, still life painting and how to transpose the qualities of various materials - glass, fabric, porcelain, metals - onto canvas. Elin was part of the first generation of Finnish women artists who received professional education in Art. In 1883 she received a scholarship from the “Finnish Senate” and went to Paris to perfect her Art. In the Summer of 1884, she travelled do England , where she stayed until 1885. In 1886 she returned to Finland, and settled in Norrmark. In 1888 she came back again to Paris with a scholarship and married a younger Art student , Raffallo Gambogi. From 1891 to 1895 Elin divided her time between Paris and Finland. In 1896 with another scholarship , she went to Florence to study the great masters. In 1901 Elin made a journey across Europe and an exhibition in Helsinki. In late 1902 she decided to leave her husband , who began to show the first symptoms of mental illness , going to London , then to Stockholm and finally returned to Finland. In October 1903, she exhibited at the “Turku” and decided to return to Italy in an attempt to repair their marriage. Im 1905, the couple moved to Volterra , where they lived until the end of the 1 st decade of the century. In 1914, Elin took part in the “ Venice Biennial ”. Antignano , 1917 Unexpectedly , struck down by pneumonia, Elin died on December 3 l, 1919.
