Where does the story take place… Elijah was from Gilead. O The King is Ahab. O He is the 7 th evil king that the northern kingdom has had. O O The widow is in Zarephath.

Setting the Story… O Elijah was hungry… O He had to run away from King Ahab and had nothing… no food O There was a drought… no water O Elijah asked a widow for water and food: she only had enough to make a biscuit O Let’s find out what happened…

What happened? O Where is there food in the story?
What about hunger? O In the story, where is there hunger? O What do you think it would be like to be fed by ravens? Unclean birds! O I wonder what the widow was thinking when Elijah asked for the last of her food? What do you think?

Let’s talk about hunger… O Elijah prophesied that there would be no rain that there would be a drought O That means there were a lot of hungry people no rain means no crops O What do we know about hunger? O What does it mean to be hungry? O What does it feel like?
Hunger is real today… In the world… O 870 million people in the world do not eat enough to be healthy. O That means that one in every eight people on Earth goes to bed hungry each night. O 25, 000 children die every day of hunger or diseases resulting from hunger.
2/3 of the world is hungry! Hunger in the World starving under-fed well-fed The World Health Organization estimates that one-third of the world is well -fed, one-third is under-fed one-third is starving

What can we do to help? O How can we be generous like the widow was? O What do we have to share?
