NEG coating • LNR dipole vacuum chambers – #1 to 3: 3 coated, 1 under acceptance tests – #4 to 6 : NEG coating 26 and 27 • Scraper bellows: – 2 bellows with NEG successfully tested (no peel-off) • LNR chambers TRINOS – RUN #2 successfully coated, no peel-off at bellows or welding – RUN #3 successfully coated, no peel-off at bellows or welding • Y-chambers x 3: – x 2 NEG coated, under acceptance test – x 1 NEG coating W 26 -27 7
NEG coating • PU SCHOTTKY (Responsible: Jorge Sanchez Quesada) – 4 chambers received (weight ~80 kilos each, very fragile) – optical inspection of the 4 chambers have dust, projections, metallic shavings, oxidation, scratches and white spots. – Mechanical removal of the oxidation rejected by EN-MME due to high risk of damaging bellows – ACTION: alternative method to be found by EN-MME. then degreasing (to avoid the trapping of chemical residuals) and finally NEG coating (week 28) • BPM for Tune (Responsible: Joel Albertone) – After the acceptance test there is peel-off (dust-like). – The electrodes were coated in another lab than the vacuum tanks. – We are unable to confirm by eye if the peel-off is coming from the chamber only or/and the chamber – ACTION: remove NEG dust, perform a second acceptance test to identify the presence or not of the NEG on the vacuum chamber (week 26): results to be confirmed but they are rather positive 8

Items. aspx Underway • BTV tank with NEG • Kicker tank with extra pumps: test made, no improvement, leak detection under way In the pipeline • Y- Chambers (2+1): available for testing end of June W 27 • LNR dipole chambers: 1 chamber per week W 25 to 27. • SEM chambers: – one chamber alone was tested and is conform after cleaning. – But the full assembly is not conform and showed some hydrocarbons pollution before bake out, test finished end of the week 26 with final results • Trinos vacuum chambers: – set #2 with NEG W 23 (1 chamber tested) – set#3 with NEG W 24 (1 chamber tested) 9
Other components • Supports for dipole chambers – Problem wit raw material, VSC contacted several CERN colleagues to obtain it – At CERN mid of July (to be confirmed by EN-MME) • Fast valves – Already at CERN, received on 28 June 10
