Electrostatic septum • Used for injecting beam into LEIR using an electric field. High

All these are located outside radioactive areas (central building 359 or at the surface BA 2.

Potential issues with use in high radiation environment • High radiation levels may be an issue for the following systems: • HV generation: Cockroft-Walton generator and they charger electronics and controls are installed directly adjacent to the injection septum (R 2 E). • Insulating liquid in HV feedthrough is prone to decomposition under influence of radiation. • Systems both installed next to injection septum, inside the LEIR ring.

Can be recovered from ZSTF in SPS that was just decommissioned. Will need installation of insulating liquid piping to and from regeneration station. • Location of displaced systems still to be identified.
