Electricity Bingo

Bingo Review Get out a blank sheet of paper and fold it into 16 equal squares (4 x 4) Write down one vocabulary word in each box from the following list in a random order. Be sure to save space to write definitions in each box along with the word.

Vocabulary Words 1. Charge 1. 2. Rule of Charged Particles 2. 4. Electric Field Static Electricity 5. Methods of Charging 3. 6. 7. 8. Conductor Insulator Voltage 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Current Resistance Circuit Ohm’s Law DC AC Series Circuit Parallel Circuit

Bingo Clue: A flow of electric charge (moving electricity)

Bingo Clue: - Opposite charges attract - Like charges repel

Bingo Clue: Opposition to the flow of electric charge

Bingo Clue: Material with atoms containing loosely bound electrons which permits electrons to flow freely ex. copper (metal)

Bingo Clue: Area around charged particles that exerts a force (push or pull) on other charged particles.

Bingo Clue: When electrons always flow in the same direction EX. Battery

Bingo Clue: Buildup of electric charges on an object. (unbalanced charge)

Bingo Clue: Electrical Potential: amount of stored electric charge Note: it requires work to move a charge.

Bingo Clue: A complete closed pathway for electricity to flow

Bingo Clue: Current = voltage resistance I = V/R

Bingo Clue: When electrons flow back and forth, reversing their direction regularly (+ to -) (- to +) EX. Wall Socket/Plug

Bingo Clue: 1. Friction- rubbing two objects together 2. Conduction- direct contact of two objects 3. Induction- rearrangement of electric charge without touching

Bingo Clue: When all parts of a circuit are connected one after another in the same path

Bingo Clue: Physical Property of Matter that can give rise to an electric force of attraction or repulsion • Protons (+) • Electrons (-) • Neutrons (no charge)

Bingo Clue: Material with atoms containing tightly bound electrons that do not permit electrons to flow freely ex. rubber

Bingo Clue: IF YOU JUST SAID BINGO… YOU OWE BERGMANN A STARBUCKS! Iced White Chocolate Mocha

Bingo Clue: When the parts of a circuit are connected in separate pathways or branches

Chemistry Review Notes The following note pages are the definitions from your bingo card that need to be formally recorded in your science journal.

The Basics Charge: Physical Property of Matter that can give rise to an electric force of attraction or repulsion Protons (+) Electrons (-) Neutrons (no charge) Rule of Charged Particles: Opposite charges attract, Like charges repel Electric Field: Area around charged particles that exerts a force (push or pull) on other charged particles. Static Electricity: Buildup of electric charges on an object, (unbalanced charge)

Methods of Providing Charge 1. Friction- rubbing two objects together 2. Conduction- direct contact of two objects 3. Induction- rearrangement of electric charge without touching

Electricity Terms Conductor: Material with atoms containing loosely bound electrons which permits electrons to flow freely (EX. Copper, metals) Insulator: Material with atoms containing tightly bound electrons that do not permit electrons to flow freely (EX. Rubber) Voltage: Electrical Potential: amount of stored electric charge Note: it requires work to move a charge. Current: A flow of electric charge (moving electricity) Resistance: Opposition to the flow of electric charge

Ohm’s Law A relationship exists between current, voltage, and resistance. Current = Voltage Resistance I=V R

AC vs. DC Alternating Current (AC): When electrons flow back and forth, reversing their direction regularly (+ to -) (- to +) EX. Wall Socket/Plug Direct Current (DC): When electrons always flow in the same direction EX. Battery

Circuits: Series/Parallel Circuit: A complete closed pathway for electricity to flow Series Circuit: When all parts of a circuit are connected one after another in the same path Parallel Circuit: When the parts of a circuit are connected in separate pathways or branches
