What Goes On In The TDC – Transmission Dispatch Centers? Ø Ensure that outages are executed safely and in the best method to minimize the impact. Ø Interface with field personnel. Ø Walk field personnel through switching orders. Ø Respond to alarms and other issues that arise at the sub-stations. Ø Maintain the flow of electricity in the specified area they are responsible for. What Goes On In The SCC? – Systems Control Center Ø Ensure Safe and Reliable Operation of the AEP East and West Transmission System. Ø Monitor the system 24/7 Ø Monitor weather conditions Ø Provide switching solutions for emergency scenarios. Apprenticeship Overview Ø Criteria for applicant selection to participate in the apprenticeship: • Submit Application & Faculty Evaluation form • Face to Face interview Ø Must be able to work 20 hours a week Monday – Friday Ø The apprenticeship program will last 1. 5 years. Ø Once successfully passing all Dispatching qualifications you are eligible for a post program full-time opportunity at AEP Ø The daily activities for the apprenticeship program consist of Transmission Dispatcher OJT. • Module training • System/Tech training (SCADA, Energy Management System, etc. ) • 3 part communication • NERC standards Ø Must maintain satisfactory grades (C or better) Ø All hours will be completed within 7 am 11 pm Monday through Sunday Ø After being an active full-time Transmission Dispatcher employee at AEP for three years you are eligible for: Transmission Employee Benefit Program – Reimbursement up to fifty-percent of the Apprentice’s college tuition will be reimbursed after the Apprentice’s three (3) year anniversary of working as a full-time AEP employee. 13 | Proprietary & Confidential | www. apexsystems. com
