Electric Cabinets Racks and other EL equipment installation
Electric Cabinets, Racks and other EL equipment installation and maintenance Diego Zambelli (EN-HE-PO) HL Integration Meeting - 27/07/2020 EDMS 2401017 v. 1 1
Metallic structure-False floor gaps The issue: • In some HL building the floor is constituted by a metallic structure covered by slabs of “false floor”. Most of the EL racks lay directly on the metallic structure rather than on the false floor. As result, the surface where the equipment needs to be transported and the one of its final position are at two different levels. • The gap is basically the false floor thickness. It can vary from 50 mm to 38 mm. The proposed solution: • Installation of metallic duckboards (caillebotis) to fill the above described gap. • Depending on the size of the cabinets, one duckboards can support one or more racks. • Depending on the presence and the position of the cables connecting the equipment, the duckboards can be cut in order to crate the passage when needed. HL Integration Meeting - 27/07/2020 EDMS 2401017 v. 1 2
Current situation: gap between false floor and rack’s base If cables are present in the inferior part of the cabinet, the caillebotis will be cut in order to create the cable passage HL Integration Meeting - 27/07/2020 EDMS 2401017 v. 1 Future situation: 1000 x 600 x 40 cailleboti to close the gap before the installation. Rack and false floor at the same level. Possible suppliers: - https: //www. caillebotishop. fr/ - https: //www. jktechnic. fr/fr 3
In the current configuration, about 7 different cabinet sizes have been detected. For most of these it is possible to find the corresponding commercial cailleboti size. The biggest sizes (especially 1800 x 600, 1200 x 650 and 1200 x 400) are more critical. In these cases two small caillebotis can be used instead of a big one. E. g. two grid by 900 x 600 can be used to for a 1800 x 600 cabinet. The average price of a cailleboti can vary from 60 to 80 euros with the size (www. caillebotishop. fr). For a rough calculation, a price of 70 euros can be considered. The total price for this solution will be around 11’ 400 euros. To this price, cutting operation costs need to be added if outsourced. # of Cabinet sizes in cabinets in # of cabinets Quantity HL buildings SD SU SE in US (per side) (per side) 600 x 900 7 3 16 11 37 650 x 450 2 1 3 1000 x 400 1 3 4 1000 x 600 2 13 14 29 1200 x 400 3 3 1200 x 650 4 4 1800 x 600 1 1 Total HL Integration Meeting - 27/07/2020 EDMS 2401017 v. 1 Total Quantity 74 6 8 58 6 8 2 162 4
UPSes installation The Issue: • Due to their heavy weight they need to be transported using a pallettruck and installed directly on the metallic structure. For this equipment, the metallic structure has been designed to be already at the same level of the false floor (no caillebotis needed here). • The metallic structure supports the UPSes along their perimeter but it is empty inside. This opening makes the installation impossible to perform with a pallet-truck. The proposed solution: • Metallic plates or rails can be temporally installed on the opening to allow the passage of the pallet-truck’s forks and removed later. This require the UPS “base” to be constituted by dismountable panels HL Integration Meeting - 27/07/2020 EDMS 2401017 v. 1 5
Current situation: opening under the UPS Proposed solution: temporary rails to allow the forklift passage HL Integration Meeting - 27/07/2020 EDMS 2401017 v. 1 6
UPSes transport and batteries maintenance The issue: • UPSes are heavy components (2. 4 t) and their batteries need to be frequently substituted. Their transport to final position require an appropriately wide passage. The width of the passage depends on the UPS size and –as asked by Serge Pelletier- needs to respect the following: PASSAGE WIDTH = UPS WIDTH + 100 mm (50 mm on the left + 50 mm on the right). • This passage needs to be kept even after the installation phase, to allow for the batteries substitution (about every 2 years). HL Integration Meeting - 27/07/2020 EDMS 2401017 v. 1 7
UPSes transport and batteries maintenance The solution: • The position of the gray equipment is not yet definitive, hence they can be moved in order to create the required passage. E. g. Point 1 UPS: ~900 mm x 900 mm Minimum 1000 mm HL Integration Meeting - 27/07/2020 Minimum 1000 mm EDMS 2401017 v. 1 8
Conclusions and future steps • EL racks and other equipment: the purchasing phase is still going on for these racks, hence dimensions can still slightly change. Once the final dimensions will be fixed, caillebotis sizes can be finalized as well; • Once dimensions and quantities will be fixed, HE will prepare an SMR (or ECR) to communicate the final costs; • HE will take the responsibility of the installation of the caillebotis. This solution will not imply any modification to the design of the Civil Engineering metallic structure; • The same issues here underlined for EL racks can be present also for other Groups’ equipment (e. g. CV, cryogenics). Generally, this occurs when racks/cabinets lay on the metallic structure rather than on the false floor. Once the position of these other equipment will be fixed, a similar study will be performed. HL Integration Meeting - 27/07/2020 EDMS 2401017 v. 1 9
