Electric Bus Trial Free City. Loop
Objectives of the Trial outcomes • Prove the effectiveness of electric buses for future replacement of portions of our diesel and gas fleet • Improved environmental outcomes • Maintain passenger comfort • Partnering approach to share experience, knowledge and risk Operational planning • • • Electric bus operation and performance Recharging and electrical supply requirements Electric bus maintenance Network scheduling for electric buses Bus depot requirements
Why the City Loop Low number of daily kilometres Dedicated bus fleet Heavy urban environment suitable for regenerative breaking Single depot operation Highly visible to the public Improve air quality and reduce CBD noise
What does success look like? Partner providing more than a bus. Looking for training, coaching and technical support Partner provides a concept of operations that supports delivery, operation, training, maintenance and performance Bus meets performance KPIs and the customer experience remains positive Trial is completed within 12 months allowing Council to understand the implications of transitioning the fleet to electric buses Both parties work collaboratively and support each other in promoting the benefits of a successful trial City Loop is the first of many full electric services
