Synopsis of the movies Sully (2016) This movies is an real event story about an airline pilot captain Chesly Sullenberger or nickname as “Sully” (Tom Hanks) facing a problem during his flight that make him glided it on frigid water in Hudson River, saving all lives onboard. However, Sully (Tom Hanks) action that decide to land the plane in Hudson River being criticize by the aviation expert during the investigation that threatened his reputation and career.

Critical Incident 1 Miscommunication Synopsis of the scene: It happen between the communication of the air traffic controller (ATC) and Captain Sully that suggest him trying to land runway 14 La Guardia Airport. It being deny by Sully that finally decided want to land in the Hudson River. Content At first Sully asking an landing option to Teterboro airport, after the ATC gives respond to his request to land runway 1 at that airport, he cant make it and decide to land in Hudson River. Sully did not make clear justified to the ATC that make them in doubt where exactly the area of impact. Effect The authorities does not know exact area crash landing site due to miscommunication of pilot and radar contact loss during final minute of the flight It might cause danger of passenger lives because late respond from emergency unit to the crash site. Suggestion Sully should clearly justified his final decision to the ATC. Beside that, there should some technology advancement in the aviation radar.

Critical Incident 2 Professional Behaviour Synopsis of the scene Captain Sully flight suffer a bird strike immediate after take off effect his plane being damage and loss power during the flight Content Sully immediately take action order his co-pilot to take out the quick reference handbook (QRH) of the aircraft and switch on the auxiliary power unit (APU) to handle the emergency procedure. Sully also swiftly make contact with the ATC inform their emergency situation. Effect Sully fast respond on the situation make the aircraft do not loss his electrical power of the aircraft by immediately turning on the APU. Sully professional behaviour handling the situation are the key of the success of the crash landing. Morale Values We should being professional and being calm when facing a problem. We also should being confidence and flexible when make a certain decision.

Critical Incident 3 Bad Manner Synopsis of the scene It about a family of 3 people coming late to board their aircraft because changes in their flight itinerary. Content Family of 3 people are come late to the gate to board Sully Flight because they previous airline changes their itinerary. Even there was clearly stated that the gate already closed, it make the family begging to the airline worker to late them board the flight. Effect That incident make the US airline officer to reopen the gate, but also delaying the flight. It also effect the others passenger time in the flight just because to wait them board the flight. Suggestion The previous airlines spirit suppose reschedule the family flight itinerary correctly.

Critical incident 4 Disturbing Synopsis of scene -The reporters come to Sully’s house Content -Sully’s wife talk with Sully through phone that the reporters rush over their house and it was disturbing for his family. Effect -It disturbing sully’s family members daily routine. -It will give injuries towards family members. Suggestion -The reporters should not come to Sully’s house to disturbing his family.

Critical incident 5 Lack of transparency Synopsis of scene -This is about the investigator team classified that the data of engine of aircraft is wrong. Content -Before this, the investigator team do not believe on Sully statement regarding the engine being damaged. -But after the engine being retrieved, they found the engine of aircraft is totally damaged. Effect. -It will lead to the wrong decision for the whole investigation. Suggestion -They should hear the opinions of others and do not too depending on the data.

Critical incident 6 Unprofessional ethics Synopsis of scene -The pilot on the simulator wearing informal uniform during simulation. Content -During the simulation run, the both pilot wearing informal uniform while being live broadcast. Effect -It show that unprofessional ethics for both pilots of the simulator. Suggestion -They should wearing the formal uniform during simulation to show the professional ethics.

Conclusion From the movie Sully, there are many thing we can learn from it. First from the movie it make the people realize that we should more flexible and willing to hear opinions of others during discussion. After that, we can conclude that all these aspect of communication or discussion that will give impact of relationship of others.
