Many Hispanic kids don’t get presents on Christmas. Instead, presents come on the night of January 5, to celebrate los Reyes Magos.

¿Cuándo? When? • Festivities start the night of January 5 th. • They continue onto January 6 th. • January 6 th is also called “Epiphany”. This day commemorates the arrival of the Three Kings.
¿Dónde? Where?
¿Por qué? Why? • Why is this holiday celebrated? • What is the history behind it?
¿Por qué? Why? • Rooted in the Catholic tradition of the Christmas story. • The kings were astronomers, who studied the stars. • They followed the star of Bethlehem to the site where baby Jesus was born. • They believed Jesus was the son of God. • They brought him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
