Admission to the College of Engineering • All students at URI begin in University

Admission to the College of Engineering • All students at URI begin in University College until they meet the requirements to be admitted to a degreegranting College (ex: College of Engineering) • You need to maintain a “ 2. 0” or higher cumulative grade point average (GPA) to be admitted to the COE. You also need to earn a “C-” or higher in: – CHM 101/102, EGR 105, EGR 106, MTH 141, MTH 142, PHY 203/273, and either PHY 204/274 or CHM 112/114 – These are mainly your first year courses Pro Tip: a cumulative GPA of “ 3. 0” or higher can be a qualification for merit based financial aid, scholarships, internship opportunities, competitive jobs etc.

Academic Advising Support • Your advisors are housed on the 1 st floor of Roosevelt Hall, located in between the Library and the Memorial Union. Your Advisors will be available on a walk-in and appointment basis year-round (including winter and summer). • You will need to see your Advisor prior to enrollment for every semester until you graduate. Pro Tip: Schedule an Appointment with your advisor by the end of the first month of each semester to discuss course planning for the next semester. You can always meet with them again if needed.

They are Sophomores or higher with strong academic backgrounds who offer: – Weekly Office Hours – One night a week of review for Chemistry, Calculus, and Physics in Fall and Spring – Calculus Exam Review Sessions Pro Tip: the ELLC building lounges are great study areas. Take advantage of the academic support available and engage with your peers to ensure a successful transition to URI and great first year in College
