Dec. 11, 2014 Homework: NONE! I can…. Predict how cells will respond to different environments. 1. What type of molecules make up a cell membrane? 2. What is the function of the cell membrane? 3. How might we be able to observe how the cell responds to different solutions today?
Lab #10 Eggs-periment Goal – Explore the role of cell membrane and how it helps cell maintain homeostasis Questions… EX. Will corn syrup go into the egg? Hypothesis… Ex. If I put an egg in corn syrup for 24 hours, the egg will gain mass because the glucose will go into the egg.
Lab #10 Eggs-periment Goal – Explore the role of cell membrane and how it helps cell maintain homeostasis Questions…(Must have 3) Predictions…(How will the egg respond? ) Design experiment…(written step by step) Data …(What type of data? How often? )
Dec. 12, 2014 Homework: NONE! I can…. Predict how cells will respond to different environments. Answer the following in your Lab #10 Section of your lab journal: a) Draw a picture of your egg set up from yesterday. Label the solutions. b) Draw arrows to indicate your predictions, how/where the solutions will move?
Lab #10 Data and Analysis 1) Collect data and record mass in journal. Record data for control group. 2) Clean up! WASH and DRY beakers and return to back table. Eggs go in the GARBAGE! 3) Answer your investigative question in journal. Use different color pencil/pen draw the results on your diagram from opening activity. Record your data on class sheet. 4) Read page 156 “Need to know” in blue biology text. Define the following words in your journal: Solute, Solvent, Hypertonic, Hypotonic and Isotonic 5) Define your solutions used in the experiment using new vocabulary words above.
Lab #10 Review Class Data 1) Egg Video 2) Copy class data in your journals.
