Virtual Attendance Policy Students are expected to “log-in” class daily, and attendance will be taken by the secondary school virtual coordinator daily through student log-in. In the online program, “attendance” is determined by student engagement with the teacher and/or the online tool: Microsoft Teams and/or Edgenuity. Students are encouraged to be an active participant in the course by asking questions, participating in discussions, completing assignments, checking-in with virtual advisor on Wednesdays, etc. Students must attend weekly check-in phone or video conferences with their virtual advisor and content teachers. These conferences will be scheduled for every Wednesday. Failure to attend a scheduled conference will result in the student being marked “absent” for the day.
Failure to Meet Attendance Requirements Students and parents will be notified after three (3) days of inactivity. Students are expected to make up any missed assignments or instruction. Failure to attend the weekly check-in video conferences for two (2) weeks in a row will require a conference between the student, parent, virtual coordinator, counselor, and administration to create a plan of action for completing make up assignments. Repeated failure to meet attendance requirements will result in a student being turned over to truancy. In the case of unsatisfactory progress, EFMS teachers will make every attempt to schedule assistance through video conferencing. In cases where students continue to fall behind, EFMS teachers reserve the right to require students to come in for assistance.
Failure to Meet Attendance Requirements Cont’d If a student is unable to complete their coursework, a parent/guardian should notify the secondary virtual school coordinator or Mr. Matthews by phone or email. All excuses for absences should be emailed to the secondary virtual school coordinator at jbutler@efschools. net or aqsanders@efschools. net.
Communication Students should use email and phone calls to ask questions, seek technology help, and/or check with their virtual advisor or teachers. If a parent/guardian would like to schedule a conference with a teacher, the parent/guardian should contact the office secretary to schedule a conference. Phone and video conferences will be held on Wednesdays.
Academic Honesty Students will complete assignments and/or assessments alone unless instructed to work with peers by the teacher. Students will not participate in any form of plagiarism. Students will not copy or redistribute any part of the assignment and/or assessments in any way—electronically or verbally. Students will take assessments without any aids (ex. textbooks, notes, references, etc. ) unless otherwise stated by the teacher.
