What is it? “Educators understand use data to drive their instruction and support students in achieving their learning goals. ” -ISTE - For example, educators can use technology in many ways to ensure the success of their students, giving the students many resources to help them to learn and grow in ways that work for them.

Showing competency. The educator must provide ways for students to demonstrate their learning and also reflect on what they have learned. Using an e-portfolio system is a way that educators can accomplish this, meeting the students where they are. Using an e-portfolio system allows the students to choose their pathway for learning instead of forcing the students to all learn at the same pace. Using an e-portfolio system will meet each students’ needs according to the students’ growths and struggles in their learning. The educator will be provided with the data of the students learning. With having this information, the educator can set goals and make adjustments to accommodate the learning of all of their students.

Formative and summative assessments Using technology allows educators to design the needed formative and summative assessments that give students timely feedback, instructions, and accommodates the students’ needs. Formative assessments - Includes surveys, embedded questions, student discussion, reflection questions, and a chat system for the students to clarify with one another. Summative assessments - Includes visuals and is interactive. Alternative to traditional testing questions. Showcases the students’ knowledge once assessments are completed and evaluated.
