Introduction This is a report on Education system in Zambia from a survey done in Kanini ward of Ndola, Copperbelt province of Zambia. The scope of the study covered 2 schools in the ward, namely; 1. Kanini Secondary school 2. Ndola primary school
Pupils
Pupils 10 pupils took part in the survey. 5 pupil respondents came from Kanini Secondary school while the other 5 pupil respondents came from Ndola primary school.
Background characteristics
5 were females and 4 were male as shown in the chart. Sex of respondents 44% Female 56% Male
Age Distribution The age distribution of pupil respondents were as follows 11% 22% 34% were 15 years while those with 12 and 14 years shared the smallest percent i. e. 11% 12 years 22% 13 years 14 years 15 years 18 years 33% 11%
Grade of respondents Grade distribution • the grade distribution included grade 7, 9 and 12. • 4 out of 9 respondents were in grade 7 representing 45% while respondents in grade 12 were 2 representing 22%. G 12 22% G 7 44% G 9 33% G 7 G 9 G 12
Cost of Education
When pupils were asked whether they had adequate school kit such as pencils and pens, all the pupils agreed. School tool kit Yes No 100%

Effect of Distance on performance • When asked whether distance affected pupil performance, 63% of the teacher respondents said it does while 37% said no. No 37% Yes 63% No Yes
Quality of education
• In terms of pupils passing rate, the ward has an average pupil passing rate of 40 -60% representing 61% of the respondents. • 39% fall between 60 -80% passing rate.
